The South Plains Foundation had its origin in the South Plains Kidney Dialysis Center. The Dialysis Center was a locally owned 501 C 3, non-profit medical facility located in Lubbock, Texas. The board was composed of local business and community citizens who had an interest in End Stage Renal disease.
After the sale of the Center, the board created a private foundation focusing on health care and other community activities with an educational component. Thus, in June 1989, the South Plains Foundation became a functional non-profit, private foundation.
The South Plains Foundation board is comprised of local citizens who are interested in furthering health research, community activities and educational endeavlors.
